ART DIRECTOR AND CO-AUTHOR
Siamo Tutte Mariposas started off with Stefania Bortolotti, an intercultural pedagogist, and Cindy Baptista, designer, artist and artistic director, with the intent to explore issues of structural and economical violence, racism and xenophobia; through the universal language of art, aimed at empowering migrant women.
The performance is directed by Cindy Batista from Cape Verde with the help of Isabel Zuaa, a Portuguese actress and performer of Angolan and Guinean origin.
On stage, the Mariposas, will not tell the audience so much about the hardships and violence of being migrant women in Italy, instead and together, these women discover above all strength, creativity and courage that unites their stories. It is not the violence nor the pain that brings them together, but the discovery of Mariposas. Like butterflies, they are women capable of fighting, transforming and giving birth.
